When Andrew asked for a cell phone at the age of 9 I about died and answered with a very sweet and kind NO! When Andrew asked for a cell phone at the age of 10 my reply wasn't as sweet but still the answer was NO! When he asked again at the age of 11 I was ready for him. I didn't want to give my same "you are so not a cool mom" answer, so instead I told him YES...when he could pay for it! I thought this would hold us off a little while seeing as how he wanted a very expensive phone. Well I was wrong. Andrew soon had the money saved and just before Christmas purchased a nicer phone than I have. WHATEVER!
I am telling this silly little story because what am I going to say to Alex when she asks for a cell phone for her 3rd birthday??? She already walks around with her "pretend cell phone" in hand all day and calls everyone to just talk. Yesterday at church she was coloring a little activity book. The picture she was coloring was a little boy with a pocket on his overalls. The pocket had stripes on it to make it look like a plaid or patch pocket. After coloring it Alex brought it over to show me and then informed me "Look Mom, hims has a cell phone in his pocket!" Seriously! I am not kidding you, I am counting down the days tell the question of "Mom can I have a cell phone" comes from her cute little mouth! How many years do you think I can hold off and tell her NO??
